草食主義者、増加中！
草食主義者が増加中のオスロでは、今やレストランやカフェのメニューの一部が続々とベジタリアン向けに。「肉より、野菜！」のトレンドが強まりつつある北欧。その背景にあるのは、健康志向というよりも、動物愛護と環境対策。２００６年に国連食糧農業機関（FAO）が発表した調査によると、温室効果ガス全体の１８％は畜産によるもの。
とはいっても、「毎日野菜」は難しい。物価の高いノルウェーでは、健康食材であるはずのオーガニックや野菜はまだまだ値段が高く、ヘルシーとは言い難い冷凍ピザなどが安いのだ。
「１日３食のうちの１食」、もしくは「１週間に１日」だけでもいい。肉中心の生活から、少しずつ草食に。そんなプチ草食主義者たちの間で、人気急上昇中の「緑の台所」カフェでは、メニューは全てベジタブル。
緑の葉と枝が生い茂ったドアを押すと、店内には居心地のいい小さな空間が広がる。３０席とこじんまりしているが、個人経営ならではの手作り感で溢れている。
「カフェのオーガニック・オムレツ」１３５ノルウェークローネを注文して、その日の新聞を読みながら、ぼーっとすることができた。今日は、これでちょっとエコな活動に貢献できただろうか？
メトロ「トイエン」駅からは徒歩約７分。ムンク美術館への観光途中に立ち寄ってみるのもいいかもしれない。
